Influenced by the revival movements that characterizes the second half of the 19th century, the Mintons factory drew it inspiration from the Renaissance. The works of Della Robbia and Bernard Palissy represented a great source of inspiration which is perceptible in the choice of color of the enamels and the presence of the snakes as well as the bearded man mask. The pieces from the Mintons factory are exceptional for their decorative qualities as well as the simplicity of the decorative repertoire which testifies to the ability of the craftsmen to synthesize styles to please their clientele of connoisseurs, both English and foreign.
