Pair of vases.
Cipolin marble.
Neoclassical period.
H. 45 - D. 40 cm.
This marble was used by the Greeks before being imported to Rome from the 1st century B.C. It was used in particular for the shafts of the columns that adorned the facades of rich Roman villas. Cipolin spread throughout the Empire and the rediscovery of deposits over time allowed the creation of new decorative pieces such as this pair of important vases dating from the late 18th or early 19th century.
