Luigi Frullini was a famous Florentine ebenist of the second half of the 19th century, as an artist he was appreciated for his neo-gothic and neo-renaissance creations. His knowledge of ornamental patterns combined with a great virtuosity in wood carving resulted in beautiful creations. Such as our frame which features the figures of the four most important artists of the Renaissance: Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello combined with typically Renaissance ornamental motifs. The silver plate represents one of Raphael's most famous paintings: the Sistine Madonna.
