A Scagliola Column Imitating Breccia Gialla
In his 1845 treatise on the pietre antiche, Corsi mentions a “very rare” breccia gialla with a “of orange with small white, red, and dark blue markings" — of a type that may have served as the model for the present column, which is indeed speckled with warmer motifs than traditional breccia.
